What should I do if my lips are out of shape or too small?

What should I do if my lips are out of shape or too small?

The first signs of loss of hydration, colour and volume of the lips appear after the age of 30-35. At this point, lip volumising and lip contour enhancing treatments are not necessary, unfortunately they lack a youthful glow. This is a good time to try and gently refresh and rejuvenate the redness of the lips in an effective and easy way , using a hyaluronic acid treatment. At SUNGATE BEAUTY& SPA, your aesthetic physician will individually select the product and type of technique for injecting your lips with hyaluronic acid filler.   What is hyaluronic acid? Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in our body (as well as elastin and collagen fibres ). It determines the elasticity, flexibility and smoothness of the skin. Its hygroscopic properties help maintain the correct level of tissue hydration, while its molecules act as a carrier that allows the transport of nutrients deep into the skin. In addition, hyaluronic acid stimulates collagen production. Unfortunately, as we age, its content decreases, which results in the appearance of more wrinkles and the skin loses its density and elasticity. By using hyaluronic acid-based fillers, you can quickly and safely prolong a youthful appearance. At SUNGATE BEAUTY&SPA, your aesthetic medicine doctor will select and perform a treatment individually tailored to your problem. What hyaluronic acid-containing preparations are used to correct small and misshapen lips? There are very many brands and products of hyaluronic acid injection fillers available in Poland: Restylane, Juvederm,Croma, Stylage, Teosyal. Each brand has corresponding types of products dedicated to the specific area being injected. They differ in consistency, the degree of cross-linking of the hyaluronic acid molecules and its concentration. Products with a lower concentration, softer consistency are used to fill in fine wrinkles, while products with a high concentration, thicker consistency are used to increase the volume of areas of sunken and wrinkled skin, giving a natural and youthful appearance. At SUNGATE BEAUTY &SPA the aesthetic medicine doctor selects individually the product and the technique of application of the filler to emphasize the lip contour. We use preparations of the best world brands: Restylane (Lip Volume), Juvederm (Ultra Smile, Ultra 3), Croma (Volume), Teosyal (Kiss), Ellanse , Stylage (M, Special lips)   What does the lip shape and volume correction procedure involve? The procedure involves injecting a suitably selected hyaluronic acid preparation into the contour of the lips. The injection is performed using a small needle puncturing the lip contour line several times. After the injection is completed, the preparation must always be evenly placed and massaged into the skin by the aesthetic practitioner. Does the asymmetric lip correction procedure require anaesthesia? Before the procedure, the skin is anaesthetised by lubricating it for 30-40 minutes with an anaesthetic cream.   What are the indications for lip shape correction surgery? The treatment is recommended for any woman who has an imbalance in the proportions and shape of her lips or when they have become flattened and blurred through the ageing process. It is especially recommended for women who are tired of make-up melting along the wrinkles that cut the contour of the lips, a problem that affects women over the age of 45, especially those who smoke.   After how long can the final result of the treatment be expected? Immediately after treatment, the lips are highlighted, wrinkle-free and the contour is accentuated. The border between the red line and the skin is clear and the lips are smoothed, rejuvenated, firm and moisturised. The hyaluronic acid filler administered increases its volume and stimulates collagen production .After a few weeks, the effect of the treatment is more visible. During a check-up with the aesthetic physician, an additional treatment may be performed, which is sometimes necessary if the depressions were deep. Together with the doctor, a decision is made about a possible additional treatment. In people with large depressions, the best results are when we correct the defect in stages by administering and shaping the filler, i.e. after 3-4 weeks. Then we can be sure that we will obtain a satisfactory effect of smoothing out the hollow and the preparation administered will not move.   How many treatments should be performed to achieve a satisfactory result? Usually, one visit , during which 0.5 to 1 ml of hyaluronic acid is injected, is sufficient for people around 30 years of age. At an older age, a satisfactory result is obtained after a second treatment, as the depressions are deeper. Alternatively, the next treatment can be performed 3-4 weeks after the first treatment. How long does the effect of 1-2 treatments last? Satisfactory results obtained after 1-2 treatments last from 6 to 12 months. Many factors determine this: the patient's age, the type of preparation used, lifestyle and the patient's general condition. Smoking significantly affects the loss of the achieved effect.   How often should the lip shape correction procedure be repeated? Typically, the treatment should be repeated when the satisfactory effect fades, after about 6 - 12 months. Subsequent "maintenance treatments" require the use of smaller volumes of the preparation, as the collagen fibres at the site of the first injection have increased in number and prolong the skin restructuring effect.   What are the contraindications to having the procedure performed to even out small and unshaped lips?
  • pregnancy and lactation
  • a tendency towards hypertrophic scars
  • use of anticoagulants and anti-inflammatory drugs
  • inflammatory lesions in the skin
  • hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid.
  • autoimmune disease
  • skin with an outbreak of infected bacteria
  • herpes virus infection.
  • young people under 18 years of age.
  • previous treatments with permanent fillers in the same area
  • taking steroid medication
How does the facial skin look immediately after the treatment? The treated area is slightly reddened, swollen and painful on pressure. The needle insertion points in the skin are also visible. When touching the injection area, you may feel a hardening of the skin as the filler has been inserted. During the procedure and on the following day, small haematomas at the needle insertion point and swelling may occur. All discomfort subsides within a few days. To get rid of swelling, cold compresses should be applied, while bruises can be quickly removed by applying Arnica gel. What are the recommendations after hyaluronic acid lip fillers? After the procedure, it is advisable to use products that accelerate skin healing, such as: Cicaplast and gently massaging the area where the filler was injected. If bruises have appeared after the procedure, they can be lubricated with Arnica gel, which accelerates their absorption. After a few days, you can return to regular skin care and apply sunscreen, preferably with an SPF50 factor.   What can be done to make the effect of the treatment last as long as possible? It is very important to use day creams with sunscreens ( SPF 30 - 50+) and skin care products with antioxidants: such as vitamin C, vitamin E, flavonoids, ferulic acid, phloretin. Oral preparations containing vitamin C, vitamin E, coenzyme Q10 and grape seed flavonoids are also worthwhile. It is very important to avoid smoking, as it significantly accelerates the ageing process and the loss of the rejuvenating results obtained.
