Facial volumetry - definition of the procedure

Facial volumetrics is a safe non-surgical procedure for contouring the face and its contours, most commonly with a filler, on the principle of a facelift; it is also often referred to as a volumetric facelift.

Facial volumetry - what does it involve?

It usually involves the injection of a special filler, usually from a natural preparation, deep into the subcutaneous tissue using a needle and ampoule syringe into predetermined areas of the face, which is then gently massaged to create the desired facial contours.

The facial volumetry procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia, hence it is completely painless and usually takes about 30 minutes. It can be used at any age in both men and women.

Facial volumetry - what does it do?

Facial volumetry allows for an immediate positive effect without the use of a scalpel in the form of:

  • three-dimensional facial rejuvenation,
  • rebuild facial volume and improve facial contours,
  • to complement the atrophy of subcutaneous tissues that occurs with age,
  • wrinkle reduction,
  • initiating the skin regeneration process and activating natural collagen production, which firms and improves the appearance of the skin
  • to nourish the inner layers of the skin.

The main indications for a volumetric procedure are the need for:

  • facial profile lift,
  • enhancing cheekbones,
  • correction of the so-called valley of tears and nasolabial furrows,
  • modelling of the cheeks and chin,
  • softening of sharpened facial features.

Facial volumetrics - key contraindications

Obstacles to performing facial volumetrics are:

  • pregnancy and lactation,
  • inflammatory skin conditions, for example: acne, herpes,
  • autoimmune diseases,
  • tumours,
  • hypersensitivity or allergy to the filler.

Facial volumetry - what's next?

Due to the fact that during a facial volumetric procedure, the product is usually inserted quite deeply, slight bruising, redness and swelling may occur at the injection site. However, these symptoms are normal and disappear spontaneously after a few days. There may also be a feeling of tenderness and slight discomfort, which will disappear over time.

Immediately after facial volumetrics, it is advisable to avoid heating the skin - sunbathing, sauna use and heavy exercise.

The desired effects of facial volumetry last for approximately 18 months. After this time, the absorbing filler implant provides excellent regeneration of the surrounding tissues, thus giving the effect of rested and healthy facial skin without the effect of a sudden change in facial features caused by the absorption of the filler.
